You can now begin to surf the web up to 5X faster than a standard 56K connection. This service will be enabled every time you start the TCQ Web Accelerator program while connected to TCQ Internet.

The X5 TCQ Web Accelerator runs in the Systray, in the lower right-hand corner of your windows screen. You can start and stop the service by simply clicking on the icon.

Special Settings

X5 works by compressing text and graphics using a proprietary technology, and sends it over your existing dialup phone line. This compression process allows a smaller amount data to be sent – up to six times less – making the download time of your web pages and your online experience that much faster.

To improve the performance of the X5 service, you can adjust the image quality of images you view through your web browser. To adjust this setting, click on the Web Accelerator icon on the lower right-hand corner of your windows screen and select 'Settings'.

Under the Image Quality Tab, choose the image quality you want to use. The lower the image quality, the faster the pictures will load.

X5 also compresses Email. To enable Email compression, select the Features tab and check the POP3 box.

Click OK when finished.

X5 compresses the following elements of web pages in order to send the information to your computer faster:

bulletWeb pages - HTML markup and JavaScript
bulletGraphics including JPEG and GIF images
bulletText
bulletE-mail on the Web

Although X5 is able to compress many different types of online data, there are a few which cannot be accelerated:

bulletStreaming media, audio and video files
bulletSecure pages, such as those used for online banking and credit card forms.
bulletFiles and attachments such as music or digital photos.

Pop-Up Blocker

The X5 service also comes with a Pop-Up Blocker feature which blocks annoying pop-up ads. To enable this service, click on the TCQ Web Accelerator icon on the lower right-hand corner of your windows screen and select 'Pop-Up Blocker'.

To enable this feature, click 'Enable PopUp Blocker".

If you visit sites which contain pop-up windows that you need to see, you can add this site a white list. Select the White List tab, and click the 'Add' button. Enter the domain of the site, then click OK.
