To configure a Windows NT computer for DSL with a Cisco 605 modem, you first need to create a new Internet dialer. To do this, from the main screen, double click:
My Computer -> Dial-Up Networking
Click 'New'
Name the new phonebook entry: TCQ Internet
Click Next
Check the boxes "I am calling the Internet" and "Send my plain text password if that's the only way to connect."
Click Next
Enter the Phone phone number: 1
Click Next
Select Point-to-Pont Protocol (PPP)
Click Next
For Login Script, select 'None'
Click Next
'My IP Address' should be set to 0 0.0.0.0, we will assign this to you when you login.
Click Next.
Set DNS server and WINS server addresses to 0.0.0.0
Click Next. Click Finish
Your Dialer is created. Now, some minor changes will be needed. Click the box labeled 'More' and select 'Edit Entry and Modem Properties'
Verify the phone number, 1 and that you have selected the Cisco 605 modem.
Click Configure
Make sure that the Initial speed rate is set for 115200 and that 'Enable hard flow control' is selected.
Click OK
Now click Server. Make sure only TCQ/IP is checked.
Click TCP/IP Settings
Make sure that 'Server Assigned name and server addresses' is selected, and that 'Use IP header compression' and 'Use default gateway on remote network' are checked.
Click OK.
Select Script, and check None.
Select Security, click 'Accept any authentication including clear text'
Click X.25
In the box labeled Network, select None.
Click OK
Click Dial
You are now ready to connect! Enter your username and password. Make sure the box labeled 'Domain' is left blank.
Once you have connected, you can begin using your Internet programs.
