To manually configure the Windows 95 or Windows 98 Internet dialer, double click on the icon called My Computer from the main screen. Then, double click Dial Up Networking.
From Dial Up Networking, double click on Make New Connection.
In the box labeled "Type a name for the computer you are dialing", type TCQ Internet. Make sure you have your modem selected and click Next.
Leave the Area Code field blank. In the Telephone number field, enter the Dial-Up access number found in the Call Finder for your area, including area code.
Click 'Next'.
Now, you are finished creating the dialer, so click Finish. Now you will need to configure the dialer.
Back at the Dial Up Networking window, you will see an icon called 'TCQ Internet'. Right click on it once, then select create shortcut from menu, click yes to place shortcut on desktop. Right click on 'TCQ Internet' again, select properties from the menu.
Click Server Types.
Under Server Types, only 'Enable software compression' and 'TCP/IP' should be selected (You will need to uncheck Log on to network, NetBEUI and IPX/SPX Compatible).
Click TCP/IP Settings.
You will not need to change anything on this window. These addresses will be assigned to you automatically when you connect. This is also true for users with static IP addresses. Click OK until you are back to the Dial Up Networking window.
You are now ready to connect to the Internet. Just double click the icon called TCQ Internet.
In the field labeled 'User Name', enter: username@tcq.net
(Replace 'username' with your assigned username)
Enter your assigned password. Click 'Connect' to connect.
Once you are connected to the Internet, you can begin using any Internet program, such as a web browser or e-mail program.
Set the Default Dialer
We suggest making TCQ Internet your default dialer. With TCQ Internet as your default dialer, the computer will automatically connect to the Internet any time you start an Internet program.
Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
Double click Internet Options (may also be called ‘Internet’)
Click the Connections tab.
In the box labeled ‘Dial-up Settings’, click TCQ Internet
Click ‘Always dial my default connection’
Click Set Default, Click OK
Your computer will now connect to TCQ Internet any time an Internet program is started, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
