You can use any e-mail program with your TCQ Internet e-mailbox, but we suggest using Outlook Express. It is bundled with Microsoft Internet Explorer, and is already installed on most computers. Here is an introduction to using Outlook Express. 

 

To start Outlook Express in Windows, click Start -> Programs -> Outlook Express.

 

 

Along the top toolbar, you will see some buttons. Here are descriptions of the most common buttons:

 

To check for mail, click the Send/Recv button at the top, which looks like this

To send a new message to someone, click the New Mail button.
To add an entry to your address book, click the Addresses button. 

 

Receiving E-mail

 

To receive mail, click the Send/Recv button. New messages will appear in the Inbox. 

To view the e-mail  message, click on 'inbox'. The new message will be displayed in the right panel. Double click the message in the right panel to view it. 

 

Sending E-mail

 

To send a new message, click the New Mail button. This will open a new window, where you can enter the recipients e-mail address. Enter the e-mail address in the 'To:' field. If you want to send the same message to multiple users, just separate the address with a comma.  

 

 

Other e-mail address can also be entered into the 'Cc:" field. Next, enter a Subject for the e-mail message. Although it is not required, it is recommended that you enter one. Then, type the main message in the main box. Click send when finished. 

 

E-mail Attachments

 

There may be times when you wish to send a file to someone, such as a picture or a document. This is called an attachment.

 

To send an attachment, follow the instructions above for sending a new message. Then, click the Attach Button

 

This will bring up an Insert Attachment window. Locate the file you want to send, then click Attach. 

 

 

The file will then appear in a field called 'Attach'.

 

 

Click Send when finished. 

 

Setting Up Additional Email Accounts

 

All TCQ Internet access accounts come with 5 mailboxes. Outlook Express allows you to setup additional e-mail accounts, making it an ideal program for checking multiple mailboxes. Once you have created an additional mailbox in the My Account section, you can create an Identity in Outlook Express for that mailbox. To do this, click:

 

File -> Identities -> Add New Identity

 

Enter a name for this Identity, then click OK

 

 

You will be asked if you want to switch to this Identity, click Yes.

 

You will then be taken through an automated setup procedure. If you are unfamiliar with this procedure, please go to our Outlook Express configuration page.

 

To switch Identities, click File -> Switch Identities.

* We highly recommend that you select 'Server Assigned DNS' in your dialer, instead of using an IP address.
